A beautiful, hand decorated and painted Solway Coast scallop shell featuring a fun Aztec style fish design, finished with gold leaf. The back of the shell is also hand painted with liquid gold leaf.

All shells are, by nature, unique so each will be slightly different from that of photo. One of a kind in every way.

Additional Information

These stunning oyster shells come from the shores of Loch Ryan in the south west of Scotland, next to the town of Stranraer. One of the largest and oldest natural oyster beds in Scotland, dating back to 1701, it is at the heart of conservation methods around the world. The oyster shells are repurposed, washed, painted then decoupaged by hand before being hand finished with gold leaf (or silver leaf, etc., depending on the design). Each one is, by its nature, unique. A stunning gift to take away from a beautiful part of the world.
