A beautiful, hand decorated and painted Solway scallop shell featuring a blue swimming fish design, finished with gold leaf. Backs of shells are also painted with liquid gold leaf.

All shells are, by nature, unique so each will be slightly different from that in the photo. One of a kind in every way.

Additional Information

These stunning oyster shells come from the shores of Loch Ryan in the south west of Scotland, next to the town of Stranraer. One of the largest and oldest natural oyster beds in Scotland, dating back to 1701, it is at the heart of conservation methods around the world. The oyster shells are repurposed, washed, painted then decoupaged by hand before being hand finished with gold leaf (or silver leaf, etc., depending on the design). Each one is, by its nature, unique. A stunning gift to take away from a beautiful part of the world.
